Privacy and Data Policy
What kinds of information do we collect?
To provide Ripley Bay Products and Services, we may process information about you. The type of information that we collect depends on how you use our Services.
Information and content you provide. We collect content, communications and other information you provide when you use our Products, including Sales Information and Custom Order Requests.
Data with special protections: You can choose to provide information in Custom request on your religious views, political views, who you are "interested in" or Partnered with. This and other information is subject to special protections under EU law.
Your usage. We collect information about how you visits our store. This includes, times, dates, return visits and sales during those visits.
Information about transactions made on our Products. If you Purchase any of our in-store or Marketplace Goods or order Custom Work from Us, we collect information about the purchase or order. This includes usernames, payment information, order details, custom order notecards, delivery and contact details.
Custom Work carried out by us. If you order any custom work from us we will retain this work on one encrypted hard drive and one encrypted cloud storage space (Backup) to provide us future access to said work, this will allow us to update huds, add future work that you may require, or make changes that you wish.
How we use this Information?
We use the information that we have (subject to choices you make) as described below, and to provide Ripley Bay Products and related services.
Product research and development of New Ideas: We use any feedback and sales data we have to develop new ideas for Products and Services released within our Store, including by conducting occasional surveys and research.
Analytics and Visitor tracking: We use data gathered from the Caspervend Caspersafe Orb to track the performance of Group Notices, Shoutouts, Promotions and New Releases, this helps us to strive to provide products and services that our customers want the most. (Caspervend has provided Tools to help you remove your personal data from their records if you so wish)
Smartbots and Store Greeter: Both of these services collect data to prevent multiple (spam) Greetings and Group Invites when visiting our store.
Communicate with You: We use the information that we have to send you marketing through Group Notices, Shoutouts and Subscriber Messages to communicate with you about our New Products and changes to our Terms and Conditions. We also use your information to respond to you when you contact us.
Custom Work updates and alterations: Retaining past custom works carried out by us allows us future access to said work, this will allow an easy route to update huds, add future work that you may require, or make changes that you wish.
How can you exercise your rights provided under the GDPR?
Under the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the right to access, rectify and delete your data. You also have the right to object to and restrict certain processing of your data. This includes:
- the right to opt out of our processing of your data for marketing, which you can exercise by using the "unsubscribe" function on our Subscriber, and/or leaving any of the in-world Groups we use for advertising.
- You have a right to access or have deleted any personal information we hold on you. Accounting records (sale data, custom order notecards, Marketplace data) are exempt from the right to delete, though you do have the right to view such data. (Contact us in-world to arrange this)
- You have a right to view data held by our Vendor supplier Caspervend, you also have the right be forgotten regarding our Sim Analytics as stated above, please use the tools provided by Caspervend to achieve this.
- You have the right to view data held by Smartbots, you also have the right to be forgotten, for more information on this please contact Smartbots directly by email: support@mysmartbots.com
Data retention
We store data until it is no longer necessary to provide our services and Facebook Products. The length of time that we store data is dependent on the kind of data that we have:
- Accounting data is held indefinitely and is except from the rights to delete. This includes Caspervend Sales information, Marketplace sales information, and Custom Order sales information and order details.
- Custom Quotes that are not actioned and become a sale are retained for a total of 90 days after the date we received the quote, after which all record will be deleted.
- Analytics data retention is governed by Caspervends own GDPR Policies (Link Here)
- Offline Messages/Sales Notifications are retained for no longer than 24 hours when possible
How do we respond to legal requests or prevent harm?
We have the right to access, preserve and share your information with regulators, law enforcement or others:
- In response to a legal request, if we have a good-faith belief that the law requires us to do so. We can also respond to legal requests when we have a good-faith belief that the response is required by law in that jurisdiction, affects users in that jurisdiction and is consistent with internationally recognised standards.
- When we have a good-faith belief that it is necessary to: detect, prevent and address fraud, unauthorised use of the Products, breaches of our Terms or Policies or that of Linden Labs, or other harmful or illegal activity; to protect ourselves (including our rights, property or Products), you or others, including as part of investigations or regulatory enquiries.
Information that we receive about you (including financial transaction data related to purchases made with Ripley Bay) can be accessed and preserved for an extended period when it is the subject of a legal request or obligation, governmental investigation or investigations of possible breaches of our Terms or Policies or that of Linden Labs, or otherwise to prevent harm.
